In America today the rising rates of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and digestive disorders amongst adults, children and teenagers have become epidemic. Statin drugs, anti-depressants, mood controlling and appetite suppressant drugs are prescribed and taken by people of all ages, including children as young as 7 years old, as a common practice. The correlation between the decline in the health of the American population and the state of our country's food supply is not an accident. Without proper nutrition from whole, unrefined foods the human body and brain cannot function at its peak performance; nor is optimal health and weight management possible.
The goal of the Basic Nutrition Course is to provide an understanding of how the body works in simple
layman's terms. This course is designed for adults and teenagers
interested in learning how their body works and how foods affects
everything from mood to minor and major health issues. The purpose is
for the individual to learn how to make food choices that will better
their health, manage their weight, and demonstrate how eating a diet of
processed, lifeless foods contributes to the breakdown of the physical
body while robbing the brain of vital nutrients. All of this has been
proven in scientific trials, but what is not being provided is a forum
in which this understanding can take place and the step by step process
of how to make the necessary dietary changes.
The Basic Nutrition Course
The most basic concept of how much protein, carbohydrate and fat is required to sustain the body
on a daily basis is a foreign concept to many. What is essential for a female child of 10 years is very
different from a male athlete of 17 years or an adult female of 50. Using
lecture, PowerPoint, discussion and assignments to bring students into
a closer relationship with their best friend, their physical body. The Cost: $25 per class. (no cash refunds, credit can be applied towards other programs)
